State Wars Qualifier Rules

Team Alberta SW Qualifier Tournament

For 2016 and every year after, Team Alberta tryouts for the top two birth years (prior to junior) are going to be held as a team qualifier tournament.  This will give players and their friends who are on club teams a chance to win the right to represent Team Alberta and compete at State Wars this summer.  This unique qualifying tournament will have the committed players of the winning team automatically achieving a spot on Team Alberta.  If there are not enough committed players on the winning team, the top players from the other teams in the qualifying tournament will fill the rest of the spots.  There may be more than one team selected depending on the competitiveness of the qualifier and willingness of the teams to travel.

So how does this qualifying tournament work?

  1. Create a team where at least 50%of the players on the team are committed to going to State Wars.
  2. Roster size should consist of a minimum of 8 skaters and 1 goalie.
  3. The team must be filled with the majority of players from that age group.
  • For example a 9 player team must have no more than 4 players from the younger age group

      4. A round robin tournament will be held where teams compete for automatic selection as the Team Alberta

  • For example if the winning team has 5 committed players, those 5 players will automatically be placed on Team Alberta with the other spots being filled by committed players chosen by that newly appointed Team Alberta coach.
  • If you are an individual player wanting to try out, you will be placed on a team who is short players or even a team made up of individuals wanting to participate at state wars to compete in the qualifier

If you are an individual or a team interested in participating please contact Aaron Leisman at teamalberta.amrha@gmail.com for information on registration and fees.
